“…WE WILL DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO PUT SMILES ON YOUR FACES” – GOV. OYEBANJI TELLS NYSC, AS 1,192 CORPS MEMBERS GETS SWORN IN

The Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has promised to uphold the wellbeing of Corps members and that the NYSC in the Ekiti state, as a personal priority and that of his administration. The Governor who’s represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth Development Mrs Akinwunmi Sola, made this known during the Swearing-in and Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Batch C Stream I Orientation Course for Corps members deployed to serve in Ekiti State.

Gov. Oyebanji said, “let me assure you that the state will continue to assist the NYSC within the limits of our resources. The NYSC in Ekiti State deserves more and we will do everything in our power to put smiles on your faces.” While he assured of accelerated administrative actions towards the refacing of major facilities and infrastructure, His Excellency emphasized on the need to give back to the State and the nation by extension, through selfless services in whatever aspect doable. Stating that the contributions of corps members who had served in the state have remained quite impressive over the years.

Also speaking, in his address, the Coordinator, NYSC Ekiti State, Alhaji Riko Abdullahi Shuaibu, thanked His Excellency the Governor, for his numerous interventions and continued support for the scheme in the state. He added, in his words, “Your presence is pivotal to the success of today’s ceremony”. This he said, stating that despite the bitting economic situation, more than a thousand corps members and counting have been registered already, with about 498 as males and 631 females, pointing to the dire passion in the Nigerian Youth to serve the nation.

Enjoining corps members, to take advantage of all activities within the orientation timeline, Alhaji Riko reemphasized on the need for selflessness and dedication to service. In his words “Do not forget the motto of the NYSC, Service and Humility”. While he buttressed on putting the nation first, he solicited for Government’s assistance in everyway possible to enhance efficient and hitch free delivery on the core objectives of the scheme

The Oath of Allegiance to Corps members was presented by Justice Lekan Adekanye, the acting Chief Judge of Ekiti State who was ably represented by Justice O. Olatawa.

The ceremony which as formally closed by the Governor, within 45 minutes had heads of Government, security and collaborating agencies, traditional fathers, officials and staff of the NYSC, men of the press and all corps members in attendance.
