In a thrilling Champions League match on Tuesday, Man City Blew 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Feyenoord, extending their losing streak to six games. Although they ended a five-game losing streak, the English champions’ three goals in the last 15 minutes did little to increase their confidence before Sunday’s trip to Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Following his worst managerial run, Pep Guardiola acknowledged that his all-star team was “fragile” and lacked confidence. Following Ilkay Gundogan’s deflected effort, Erling Haaland scored two goals that appeared to put some order back into Man City.
However, the final moments revealed the defensive weaknesses that have been the main reason for a startling collapse in recent weeks. To save a crucial point for the Dutch powerhouses, Anis Hadj Moussa, Santiago Gimenez, and David Hancko struck back.
With two Champions League games remaining, trips to Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, City has a lot of work to do to advance to the knockout stages after a draw.
By finishing in the top 24 of the 36-team table, only the top eight advance straight to the round of sixteen. With eight points from five games, City falls to 15th place, one point ahead of Feyenoord in 20th place.
