The attention of the leadership of the Pensioners Association of Nigeria (PAN), Ekiti State has been drawn to the falsehood being spread in the social media through an on-line publication that PAN was formed by the State Government to divide NUP.
It was also alleged that the Association was being recklessly funded by the State Government.
These are falsehoods, and very uncharitable.
Please recall that some time ago, these same people in one of their Southwest meetings outside Ekiti State lied that the State Governor was owing humongous arrears of unpaid monthly pensions, which is not true.
If this set of old people could be so shameless to lie against the State Governor that he was defaulting in the payment of monthly pensions, what kind of morality do you expect of them.
Unfortunately, among them was a Christian title-holder, and of very advanced age, who one expects should have the fear God.
These terribly bad traits are alien to Ekiti people. How they got webbed into this culture of lies and deceits requires urgent intervention by their relatives and communities. We are forced to conclude that their case is not ordinary!
We want to state unequivocally that PAN is an Association of decent and responsible Ekiti Pensioners, aimed at pursuing the welfare of our members. It is neither a Department nor an Agency of Ekiti State Government. We are non-partisan. But we are solidly in support of the Government of the day in Ekiti State because of its love for the elderly, especially Pensioners.
