EKITI GOVERNMENT COMMENDS PRIMARY HEALTH CARE WORKERS OVER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE

…..as DG highlights remarkable
achievements recorded within the period under review

The Director General, Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr, Gilbert Ayodele Seluwa has commended the efforts of Primary Health Care Workers in the state for their dedication and hard work which has made an extraordinary difference, as demonstrated in the newly released 2020–24 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey report.

The DG gave the commendation at the in Ekiti Primary Health Care workers Forum in Ado Ekiti on Saturday 9th November, 2024.

According to him, “this accomplishment is a testament to your commitment and tireless efforts to improve the health and well-being of our communities”.

In rolling out the remarkable
achievements within the period under review, Dr. Seluwa revealed as follows:

  1. There is 36% reduction in teenage pregnancy,
  2. 39% increase in access to family planning, and
  3. an impressive rise in vaccination rates for children under five.
  4. In Ekiti State alone, under-five mortality has dropped by 54%, while
  5. Neonatal, infant, and child mortality rates have each seen reductions of over 50%.

He attributed these outcomes to be the direct result of workers dedication to providing quality care, educating families, and ensuring access to essential services including other components of Primary Health Care. “You are the backbone of our health system, and your work is not only saving lives but also uplifting entire communities”

The SPHCDA Director General further stated that “It is imperative to appreciate the working government of Ekiti State under the watch of His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for the motivation given to our officers in terms of provision of enabling working environment, approval of on – the – job training programmes and improved remuneration enjoyed by Primary Healthcare workers in recent times”
He also gave kudos to the Honorable Commissioner for Health and social services in Ekiti State, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, for his vision and pragmatic initiatives which has brought Ekiti State Health Care systems to an enviable pedestra among the comity of states.

Reacting to the Director General, Dr. Ayodele Seluwa, the
Leadership of PHC Workers eulogised and estoled the virtues of the DG for providing quality and unprecedented Leadership that makes Ekiti Primary Health Care works.

While some described the DG as Resourceful and Impactful Leader, some said he’s a Game Changer, many referred to him as a Visionary and Dynamic Leader while others simply called him a father of all.
