With games scheduled for the week starting December 16, the EFL website announced the Carabao Cup Quarter-Final draw late Wednesday. These are the quarterfinal games: Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Newcastle United vs Brentford Southampton vs Liverpool
According to earlier reports, Wednesday’s Carabao Cup Round Four featured exciting matches. Cody Gakpo scored twice as Liverpool defeated Brighton 3-2 to advance to the quarterfinals. Casemiro’s long-range goal gave Manchester United, under interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, a 5-2 victory over Leicester City.
Crystal Palace defeated Aston Villa 2-1 thanks to goals from Daichi Kamada and Eberechi Eze. Alexander Isak’s goal and Axel Disasi’s own goal helped Newcastle United defeat Chelsea 2-0 and advance. With goals from Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri, Arsenal easily defeated Preston North End 3-0. Timo Werner and Pape Sarr scored goals for Tottenham, which pulled off the biggest upset of the evening, defeating Manchester City 2-1. Matheus Nunes’ late goal was insufficient to keep City from losing.
