Ayegbaju Ekiti Gets New Customary Court

The President of Ekiti State Customary Court of Appeal has stressed its commitment to the expansion of access to justice at the grassrootto all irrespective of economic and social status.
President of the court, Hon. Justice Monisola Abodunde, gave the remark at the official commissioning of the customary court, Ayegbaju Ekiti, in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
According to Justice Abodunde, the inauguration of the court symbolizes the judiciary’s dedication to upholding the rule of law,protecting grass roots citizens’ rights and maintaining public confidence in the legal system.
His Lordship said; “This court’s inauguration is also a reminder that justice must be accessible to all, irrespective of social or economic status. Let us therefore work to make this new court not just a place where cases are heard, but where solutions are found, where disputes are resolved fairly, and where the law is applied with wisdom and compassion in accordance to our customs.
“The establishment of this court reflects our commitment to delivering justice that is not only done but seen to be done. It symbolizes our dedication to upholding the rule of law, protecting grassroot citizens’ rights, and maintaining public confidence in the legal system.”
Justice Abodunde also tasked the President and personnel assigned to the court on high professional standards.

His lordship stated that; “The President and personnel assigned to this court will be called upon to exhibit the highest levels of integrity, impartiality, and dedication. I urge you to carry out your duties with a deep sense of responsibility and respect for the traditions of our people. Let this court be a place where disputes are resolved peacefully, where conflicts are settled justly, and where the dignity of all parties is upheld.”
Justice Abodunde also thanked Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his untiring efforts in providing the platform that has helped the judicial arm of Government greatly.
Reacting, Chairman of Oye Local Government, Hon Princess Clara Bamisile, who was represented by the Council’s Secretary, Hon. Ayodeji Omowaye, said that the presence of the court will help the people to conduct themselves well in the community.
The chairman seized the opportunity to sue for peace in Ayegbaju Ekiti.


Describing the new court as the beginning of greater things in the town, The Reagent of Ayegbaju Ekiti, HRM Ibitayo Abolanle, expressed gratitude to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and Justice Abodunde for the facility. She also rejoiced that the feat was achieved in her time.
The
Obajagun of Ayegbaju Ekiti, Chief Peter Ajayi, assured that the people of the community will make judicious use of the court. He added that those that will be posted to the court will be welcomed well by the community.
