A group under the aegis of Esure-Ekiti Concerned Youths has demanded for fare share of political appointments in the government of Biodun Oyebanji.
This was contained in an open letter addressed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji and submitted in his office.
According to the aggrieved youths, they alleged that Esure-Ekiti is the only community that has not benefitted in the area of appointments in Oyebanji’s administration.
The group seized the opportunity to draw the attention of Governor Oyebanji on the need to appreciate all those that worked tirelessly for his emergence as governor noting that the community has been politically active.
The letter reads in parts: “Your Excellency, as other communities in the state were rejoicing and celebrating all the above-mentioned political appointments under your administration, we must tell you that the other side is our case in Esure-Ekiti as community have been throwing to mourning for being sideline, non of the indigenes of Esure-Ekiti has been beneficiary of your benevolent appointments.
“Research shows that Esure-Ekiti is the only community left the state that has no single appointment under your administration
“Esure-Ekiti has been politically active in the memorial past as we can confidently boast over 2,000 total voters’ registration currently. Also, some indigenes of the community who have been engaged in political activities, most especially for the current ruling party in the state.
“We can not but say it empirically that such indigenes, both sons and daughters, are well qualified to hold any political appointment for the fact that they are well educated, organised, oriented, tested and trusted for any position.
“The above reasons have been raising some pertinent questions and concerns among the sons and daughters of the community after we have been sidelines all these while. Looked inward, we realised that having all these qualities among your party members in the community and we are still sidelines, the questions like “KINI A SE? TANI A SE? always pumped up in our mind.
“Sir, without mincing words, we must say that we have emotionally traumatised after seeing the neighbouring communities celebrating 2 or more appointees from their community.
“On this note, We strongly believe that it is an oversight, and as a listening governor, we hope you will use your good office to take the necessary steps.”
