Ekiti ’26: PDP Stalwart, Ayeni Advocates Unity Among Party Members

…says PDP will dislodge Governor Oyebanji in 2026

As 2026 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State gather momentum, a stalwart of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Funsho Ayeni, has called for unity among party members in order to dislodge the incumbent government from power.

Ayeni made this appeal on Thursday while meeting with members of the party in Ido/Osi Local Government, Ekiti North Senatorial District.

Speaking with journalists in Ido-Ekiti, the PDP Candidate during the 2023 Senatorial election emphasised on unity, shared values and consistent grassroots mobilization to revive the party.

Reacting to the internal crisis rocking the party, Ayeni expressed confidence that the PDP’s National Working Committee is handling the situation and would soon yield positive outcomes.

The PDP Stalwart alleged that the state government under All Progressive Congress (APC) has failed in areas of economy, infrastructural facilities, industrialization, youth unemployment, which according to his has pushed Ekiti residents to the wall.

Ayeni reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots mobilization and expressed optimism that the people of Ekiti, particularly in the North Senatorial District, are ready to take the lead in delivering victory for the PDP in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

His words, “The party is strong and I believe at every point in time that there should be unity of purpose I believe there should be shared value and for us the only thing we can give back
to this party is to make sure that it doesn’t die.

“I’m here to talk to people, to intimate them about the
party and to also motivate them to remain strong as we prepare for elections.

“I believe that this is the time to start mobilizing and galvanizing our people towards making their vote count.

“I believe the National Working Committee is doing essentially what is required for us to be on the track again. I believe so soon, the party will be able to overcome such internal challenges.

“There is nobody that is happy about the ruling party at the moment. The entire nation is in disarray.

“Are we saying the roads in the Ekiti are so beautiful now that everybody is happy?
Are we saying the economic prosperity in Ekiti is something to write home about?

“So, if you believe that everything is not working, it’s as good as anybody in this government can be easily dislodged.

“What I’m saying now is that they have pushed people to the wall. People are not protesting, but they want to protest with their vote and the earlier they know that, the better.

“People want leadership that can actually manage the challenges that we have at hand.Hungry people on the street, roaming about the street, no work.

“How has the government been able to industrialize the state? How has the government been able to empower the youth? Our youths are rising in Okada. Are we all happy with that?

“Those are the issues and these issues are going to manifest in the vote of the people come June 20, 2026”.
