Dangote Refinery Gives Consumers N10 Petrol Refund

Osamagbe Imadiyi

The Dangote Petrolchemicals Refinery has once again lowered the ex-gantry price of its Premium Motor Spirit, or gasoline, below the N835 per liter that was previously announced. Sources confirmed on Monday that the refinery had loaded its goods successfully, lowering the price per litre to N825 and giving its customers a N10 refund. Marketers are still paying N835 per litre for products, according to the sources, but they get a N10 refund once they load and remove them from the refinery. Customers and marketers are now able to retail the product at a lower band of N830 to N835, outpricing private depot owners and importing marketers thanks to the secret price adjustment.

The official said, “The Dangote refinery has started giving a rebate on its products. Although not yet officially reduced, it is reimbursed once marketers purchase their goods”. The Dangote refinery slashed its gantry price by N45 last month, from N880 to N835 per liter, after implementing two price reductions in a week. The Naira-for-Crude deal with regional refiners was resumed and fully implemented after being suspended previously. Anthony Chiejina, the Dangote spokesperson, did not respond to requests for an official statement regarding the price cut.
