Governor Oyebanji Charges NYSC Corps Members to Serve with Unity, Commitment

The Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has called on members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to embrace their service year with sense of unity, commitment, and purpose.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Development, Honourable Adedayo Gold Adesola, the Governor delivered this charge during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch A Stream 1 corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ise-Orun/Emure Local Government Area.

In his speech, Governor Oyebanji, through Honourable Adedayo, congratulated the corps members and urged them to go beyond merely fulfilling a national obligation.

“Your presence here is a testament to your academic achievements, but it must also symbolise your readiness to serve with unity and unwavering commitment,” he said. “You are not just visitors in Ekiti; you are contributors to its future. Approach your tasks with empathy, resilience, and patriotism.”

The Governor’s message resonated with the theme of national cohesion, as Honourable Adedayo reminded the corps members that their host communities look to them not just for service, but for inspiration and leadership.

He encouraged them to build bridges across cultural, ethnic, and religious lines and become active participants in community development efforts.

The State Coordinator, Alhaji Riko Abdullahi Shuaibu, thanked the Governor for his unwavering support to the Scheme, acknowledging the impact the construction of multi-unit toilet facilities and meal subsidies have had on Corps Members.

He equally praised the behavior of the duly registered 1,569 Corps Members, stating that they have responded with “great zeal, maturity, and discipline.

Alhaji Shuaibu, however, stressed the need for further infrastructure development, highlighting the absence of a multi-purpose hall for lectures and the urgent need to renovate dilapidated hostel blocks to meet the standards of other camps nationwide.
