TENSION AS STRAY BULLETS HIT FIVE PERSONS IN EKITI

Five persons in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital have been hospitalized after they were hit by bullets from the gun of an officer of the Ekiti State Agro Marshals.

Roundoffnews.com gathered that the incident happened at Ekute area of Ado Ekiti between five and six O’clock in the evening.

According to some of the victims and passers-by, there was a mild traffic congestion on the Ekute road due to a ceremony in the area.

The Agro Marshals vehicle conveying some officers were also said to be caught in the traffic.

However, it was alleged that one of the officers jumped down from the vehicle to clear the road for their vehicle and in the process he started shooting to the air and some of the bullets strayed and hit the victims among whom were his colleagues.

The respondents said it was obvious that the concerned officers was trigger frick and lacked the skills and training for proper handling of weapon.

However, while speaking with newsmen at the Police Clinic in Ado Ekiti, two officers who were hit by the bullets claimed that it was an accidental discharge.

The Commandant of the Agro Marshall Corps, Mr. Olamide Oni declined comment when he came to police clinic to check on the victims.

But from his conversation with the police, Oni confirmed that the concerned officer had been arrested and would be handed over to the police for proper investigation.
