3 PERSONS TO DIE BY HANGING IN EKITI

A High Court of Ekiti State, sitting in Ado Ekiti presided over by Hon. Justice J.O. Adeyeye on Wednesday the 19th day of June, 2024 convicted and sentenced three persons to death by hanging for the offences of Armed Robbery and Conspiracy.

The convicts are, Akingbade David, Michael Mayowa and Ibrahim Jimoh Mukaila.

The offences were committed by the convicts on the 1st day of March, 2019 at NTA Road, Ado- Ekiti where they robbed one Gbenga Ajayi at gun point of his Toyota Corolla car.

The convicts were arrested and charged to Court with the offences of Conspiracy and Armed Robbery contrary to Section 6(b)of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions)Act,Cap.R11, Vol.14,Laws of the Federation of Nigeria,2004.

O. F. AJUMOBI, Esq, an Assistant Chief Legal Officer who prosecuted the case for Ekiti State called 2 witnesses and tendered 11 Exhibits in support of the case.

The convicts who were represented by Akin Abon,Esq,lyanu Olumuagun, Esq & Adeyinka Opaleke,Esq gave evidence in their defence and called no additional witnesses.

The Honourable Court while delivering his judgement held that the Prosecution proved all the ingredients of the offences against the defendants beyond reasonable doubt.

The Judge consequently convicted all the defendants and sentenced them to death by hanging for both the offences.
