FG TO HOLD PARADE, DINNER ON DEMOCRACY DAY

The Federal Government has said to mark this year’s Democracy Day celebration, activities will commence with a symposium on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.

The symposium is billed to hold at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, in Abuja, at 9am; then by 6pm on the same day, a youth conference will be held at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja.

This is according to a statement on Sunday by the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Abdulhakeem Adeoye.

The statement read, “The programmes lined up for the celebration include a symposium on Tuesday, June 11, at 9:00 am at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

“Later that day, a youth conference will be held at Ladi Kwali Hall, Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja, at 6 pm.

“A grand parade will take place on Wednesday, June 12, at 8am at Eagle Square, Abuja, a dinner at the State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja, at 6pm”.

The Nigeria’s Democracy Day which was formally marked on May 29 was moved to June 12 in 2018 under former President Mohammadu Buhari. This was done to honour the acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential election, the late Moshood Abiola.
