FUEL SCARCITY: EKITI GOVERNMENT SEALS OFF TWO FILLING STATIONS

The Petroleum Product Regulation and Consumer Protection Agency has sealed off two filling stations for sharp practices.

The Chairman Petroleum Product Regulation and Consumer Protection Agency , Hon. Arinka Odunayo and his team shut the stations during the continued monitoring exercise to some filing stations in Ado-Ekiti, Ikere , Ise and Emure .

During the exercise, the agency ensured orderliness and maintenance of peace in stations dispensing.

However, in Emure Ekiti, two filling stations were sealed off and penalized for selling a litre at the rate of N2,000.

The stations located in Emure Ekiti were shut down Both for defying petroleum regulations of exploiting the masses.

The PPRCPA Chairman, Hon. Odunayo Arinka said any act of fraudulent or exploitation of Ekiti people by filling stations during these hard times will not be tolerated under Governor Oyebanji’s watch.

He said it is true that the fuel scarcity is nation wide but no filling stations should hide under that to exploit Ekiti people noting that the sealed stations would be fined and sanctioned .

Meanwhile, the agency has warned all filling stations against selling fuel for customers with kegs above 5 liters. This is to curb the activities of those stockpiling the fuel for the purpose of selling at black market .

Hon. Arinka noted that aside the ongoing monitoring exercise occasioned by the nation wide fuel scarcity , his agency carries out routine surveillance aimed at monitoring product price, quality, availability and pump efficiency .

The PPRCPA Chairman who stated that the monitoring exercise continues today , expressed his appreciation to the leadership of Petrol Dealers Association Ekiti State chapter for maximum cooperation in curbing fraudulent activities in some filling stations.
