Establishes Health Advocacy Team  in Ekiti

There is the need for governments at all levels to invest more resources in the health sector so as to ensure better response to possible epidemics.

The National Coordinator, Civil Society in Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition, Mr Ayo Ipinmoye stated this during a workshop for Stakeholders and Executives of selected Civil Society Groups in Ado Ekiti on Covid-19 RM/RSSH CSS project.

The participants are expected to form a State Advocacy Team  that would engage relevant stakeholders and community on health related issues such as Gender Based Violence,  Response to Human Rights among others.

Delivering a paper, Mr Ipinmoye explained that the advent of COVID-19 exposed the deficiencies of the country’s health system and also showed that the country was not prepared.

According to him, the numbers of casualties recorded during the Covid would have been minimal if the health facilities were well equipped with the necessary facilities.

He noted that the Advocacy team would be going out to create awareness on the need for all stakeholders in the health sector to play their roles at ensuring a safe and health environment.

The three day training would be rounded off on Saturday.
