Make your voice heard in government, Ekiti Bishop tells Alumni Members

…as President, lauds Governor Fayemi on move to return School to Roman Catholics

The Catholic Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, the most Reverend Felix Ajakaiye has charged the 1982 golden set of Mary Immaculate Grammar School, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State to strive hard to attain positions of authorities in the country.

He also charge them to speak the truth at all times to government without fear or favour.

Ajakaye spoke during the 40th anniversary of the Alumni association in Ado Ekiti where the association gave back a laboratory to the school to enhance academic activities.

The most Reverend Ajakaye encouraged the old students to speak and fight for the truth to enable the younger generation to have an enabling environment to live in.

In his words, “Make your voice heard anywhere you go because this Country can’t continue like this.

Why should my country, your country, our country be ruled by incompetent Leaders? No! Please, let us keep telling ourselves the truth because this younger generation would ask questions.

“So, I am appealing to you, make your voice heard.” The Bishop said.

Also, the President of the Golden 82 set, Hon Charles Fasuba lauded Governor Kayode Fayemi for his move to return the School to the Roman Catholics.

“I am not in support of Free Education, money would always be used to run some things but, I always preach that fees should be leveraged for everyone.” He noted

Speaking on the lingering strike by Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities, ASSU, The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, (EKSU), Professor Edward Olanipekun, who is also an alumnus of the School urged the Union and Federal Government to reach a beneficial agreement on time, for the betterment of all.

“My advice to ASUU and FG is to adopt the Give and take attitude. It should not be a matter of winners takes all, it must be beneficial to other side.” He said.

An Alumnus of the School, who also doubles as an award winning Educator in the United States of America in 2007, Vincent Femi Ajayi encouraged other sets to come home and cater for other needs  in School such as provisions of potable water, steady electricity, security, among others.

That’s why we embarked on this project and I want to advise other sets to come and identify the areas of the need of the School, there are other needs like provisions of water, steady electricity, security…” He said
