The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Adeniran Akinwale today decorated the 2IC of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, Ogidan Tola and seven other officers of the command with their new ranks.

The CP decorated the new officers from the ranks of Deputy Superintendent of Police to Superintendent of Police on behalf of the Inspector General (IG) of Police, Kayode Egbetokun at the State Police Command Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti.

He adviced the newly decorated officers to uphold the new position with honour and responsibility, adding that they must work hard for the State’s security which is the purpose of the office.

He said, “The board has done well, IG has done well, to whom much is given much more is expected. Since you have been given this position I want you to work harder, it is not about carrying ranks it is about taking responsibility.

“Go and read your book, go and know your power and your limits. On behalf of the IG, I am congratulating you. God will take care of you and your family.

“We are from homes we have families to take care of and it is not easy to be an officer. Most of our children don’t know us, we come back when they are born, in a few days we are back to work. We don’t have public holidays, that is why you all must work hard to provide security for the people.”

On his part, SP Tola expressed his desire to shake up his efforts as well as take responsibility in the service to humanity.

On behalf of the new SPs, SP Ikotun Bolarinwa gave a vote of thanks, as he acknowledged the new position, “We are grateful for the promotion we pray for more progress for Ekiti police, we also pray for the CP.”
