…as NCS VP Dr. Abidemi Omonisi says he will be remembered for supporting Cancer Prevention, Control
The Medical Consultant on Cancer Prevention and Control to the former first lady of Ondo State, Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeledolu, Dr. Abidemi Omonisi says the late former Governor of Ondo State , Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu will be greatly missed due to his contributions to prevention and control of cancer in the country.
Dr. Omonisi who is also the incumbent Vice President of the Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS) stated this in Owo, the home town of the late former Governor during his burial ceremony.
Dr Omonisi said Arakunrin Rotimi Akeledolu SAN would be remembered in the Cancer Space for supporting Cancer Prevention and Control in Nigeria by establishing the Ondo Cancer Registry, supporting the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria ( BRECAN) annual “Walk against Cancer.”
He explained that his death, aborted his plan to establish a World Class Comprehensive Cancer Diagnostic and Treatment Centre in Federal Medical Centre Owo, Ondo State.
He expressed his Condolences to Her Excellency; Chief Betty Akeredolu – Anyanwu ; the wife of the late governor and all members of the family on the demise of Aketi.
The Cancer expert prayed that the soul of the great Cancer Advocate, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu rest in perfect peace, Amen.
Dr. Omonisi assisted the Ondo Government during the Administration of Arakunrin Rotimi Akeledolu, to establish the Ondo Cancer Registry, a population based cancer Registry and also served as a member of the Steering Committee for the Establishment of a Comprehensive Cancer Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Ondo State.
