EKITI ASSEMBLY UNVEILS DIGITAL STUDIO, E-VOTING SYSTEM

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has commissioned a top notch digital studio attached to the assembly hallowed chamber.

The studio was commissioned by Veteran lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Femi Bamisile who was speaker of the third Ekiti assembly and a second timer at the house of representatives.

The speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye explained that the establishment of the studio formed part of the digital revolution agenda of the 7th Ekiti house of assembly highlighting the need to run an e-parliament in line with global dynamics.

The house also took delivery of a new set of chairs for the hallowed chamber and digital conference microphones with electronic voting system to enable lawmakers take their ayes and nays voicelessly and noiselessly.

According to Aribasoye, a thorough remodelling of the house of assembly structure will also be effected soon as promised by Governor Biodun Oyebanji to give the house a facelift.

Rt. Hon. Aribasoye who attributed the giant strides of the 7th assembly to the immense and immeasurable support from his fellow lawmakers and Governor Biodun Oyebanji said over 20 laptop computers and several printers have also been procured to enhance efficiency of assembly workers.

He added that the 7th assembly also achieved the activation of the loans board which was able to disburse loans to the first set of recipients earlier this month.

The speaker explained that the funding of the projects and initiatives required prudent management of allocated resources and some sacrifices on the part of lawmakers as against the notion that lawmakers simply share, pocket and mop up money coming to the house for their personal enjoyment.

The new tip top studio has a 32 channel digital mixer reputed as one of its kind in Ekiti State and ranking among the best quality in southwest Nigeria.

The package include a Behringer x32 digital mixing console for sound processing, wireless conference microphones and a voting pad system to cast poll all in a fully refurbished digital technical and recording studio.

A 4k ULED screen and a monitor screen were equally purchased for live projection of events.

With the new facilities, proceedings of the house can be seamlessly recorded digitally, setting a deviation from the laborious and primitive use of cassettes which was the experience up till the last sitting of the house.

Live streaming of the plenary can also be activated with the facilities.

In his remarks, federal lawmaker Bamisile described the new development at the Ekiti assembly as an applaudable revolution noting that the current strides are poles apart compared to what was in place seventeen years ago when he held sway as the speaker.

Bamisile who said the 7th assembly parade quality lawmakers itching for positive change affirmed that the speaker, Aribasoye has shown sterling performance calling on the state lawmakers to ensure they sustain their support for him.

Bamisile also announced a donation of two million naira to support the purchase of 4k HD video Camera.
