The Local Government Service Commission, LGSC, in Ekiti State has offered prayers and supplications to God to end the spate of kidnappings and killings in the state.
The prayers organised by LGSC began with a tour of two LGAs in the state on Friday, including Ikere and Ado-Ekiti local government areas.
Speaking during the tour in Ado-Ekiti, Permanent Secretary of the LGSC, Mrs Titilayo Ojo said the prayers was necessitated as a result of insecurity and economic hardship in the country.
According to her, Ekiti is known to be a peaceful state, hence the need for prayers and supplications for God to intervene and restore peace to the state.
She charged the members of staff of the various LGAs to continue praying for the peace of the land and their homes while calling on them to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.
Her words: “It is very necessary that we pray for ourselves and government. We must come together and call upon God. Our prayers must not stop here because when there is peace in Ekiti State, there will be peace in our homes.
“We must make sure that all the LGAs are touched with these powerful prayers. Let us reciprocate the government gestures by doing our beat by being dutiful in service.”
Meanwhile, the Chaplain of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Pastor Isaac Idowu, who delivered the message in Ikere LGA, took the bible text from Psalms 122:6
Idowu noted that there is need for prayers for God to intervene in the affairs of the state and country at large adding that corporate prayers is key towards addresing the challenges in the country.
Highlights of the prayers were supplications to God concerning the spate of kidnappings and killings in the state and the economic crisis in the country.
Dignitaries at the programme include the Chairman of Ikere LGA, Hon. Oluwadamolekun, President of NULGE, Ekiti State, Comrade Oluseyi Olatunde, among others.
