2024 Budget: Ekiti Govt Restates Commitment to Fiscal Accountability, Transparency

The Ekiti State Government has restated its commitment to fiscal accountability and transparency in the implementation of the 2024 budget of the state.

The Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management in the state, Niyi Adebayo made the reassurance during the Public Presentation of the state 2024 Budget Breakdown and Highlights in Ado-Ekiti.

According to him; “The government is poised to engender sustainable growth of the state economy and further improve the well-being of Ekiti people.

“Through the Six-Pillar agenda, our government will sustain the philosophy of shared prosperity and further cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.

“Efforts have been made to address all sectors of the economy within the ambit of the available resources.”

The budget size as revealed by the commissioner is a total of 159,572,481.61 while 56% will be allocated to the recurrent expenditure and 44% goes to the capital expenditure.

The revenue analysis shows that the state government has budgeted 53,620,000.00 from the federal allocation, 28,230,438.00 from VAT and 22,531,426.76 from Internal Generated Revenue, among others.

He noted that the sectoral capital expenditure will cut across administrative, economic, law and justice, regional and social sectors totalling 70,619,898.20.

According to Adebayo, the state government has budgeted for the procurement of E-learning facilities for pilot schools, renovation of public schools as part of the selected capital projects.

Other highlights include the projects for People with Disability, projects for Women and Gender Empowerment among other social sector projects.
