Group Trains 250 Ekiti Youths, Offers Grants To End Unemployment

…holds Positive Impact Summit

…as Founder Unveils Book

No fewer than 250 youths in Ekiti State on Saturday participated in the 2024 Positive Impact Summit organised by a Non-Governmental-Organization, NGO, Divine Motivation For Positive Impact Initiative, DMPII, to end unemployment in the country.

The one-day programme, which was held in Ado-Ekiti with the theme: “Defining Career-Oriented Youths,” also featured the graduation ceremony of GIGMOf School of Mentoring, Batch F, 2023 Set and the public presentation of a book written by Gbenga Emiloju, titled: “Passion for Excellence.”

Speaking with journalists, the President and Founder of DMPII, Gbenga Emiloju said the programme is part of the vision of the group to make positive impact upon people’s lives towards building a better society.

Emiloju noted that the youths were exposed to career opportunities to help reduce the high rate of unemployment in the country.

According to the founder of the school, a total of 63 persons graduated from the GIGMOF School of Mentoring, while 13 were given grants to boost entrepreneurship adding that the book, ‘Passion for Excellence’ was written to help people have a better insight to meaningful life.

He said: “About 14 years ago, God gave me a vision to run a charitable organization, a Non Governmental Organization that impact on people’s lives especially the poor, young and vulnerable people. Those are the categories God gave me the vision to touch their lives.

“Since the inception of the NGO, we have been running programmes especially this summit and the target is to address issues that relate to societal problems. Whenever we discover that there is a problem in a particular area, facing larger percentage of the populace, what we do is to look for a programme that can address that issue.

“This year we decided to consider career oriented youth that is starting and building careers in technology. We realised that the level of unemployment is rising everyday. With the programme exposing the youths today, we are having about 250 youths that participated in this programme.

“We are trying to expose them to career opportunities that are embedded in technologies and how they can discover those opportunities, build careers and make money through it. Some of the youths of the mentoring school were also given grants to support their entrepreneurship ideas because not everybody maybe able to go into Tech.

“The Book, ‘Passion for Excellence’ is my fifth published book. The book wss born out of my desire to help people leave a meaningful and productive life.”

On her part, the book reviewer and Commissioner for Women Affairs in Ekiti State, Hon. Mrs Olapeju Babafemi hailed the author for making impact in the society adding that the book is for all ages.

Her words: “Gbenga Emiloju is a man of passion and a Civil Servant in Ekiti State Civil Service. Beyond the Civil Service, he is also making impacts. The book written by him, ‘Passion for Excellence’ is for all ages and it also epitomizes the kind of man, Gbenga himself is.

“All through the book, he talked about basic principles of life and what we need to do to excel. It is heartening because it shows we can learn excellence. He talked about self-discovery, relationships and also spoke about capacity building. It is a book that everyone should have irrespective of one’s age. I congratulate the author for this great achievement.”

The event attracted eminent personalities such as the Commissioner for Capacity Development in the state, Prof. Olugbenga Tedela, who unveiled the book, permanent secretaries in the State Civil Service, among others, and also the 10th Anniversary celebration of DMPII.

The Positive Impact Summit featured lectures by resource persons on the effective use of social media, technology, blogging, content creation, branding, E-commerce, Affiliate marketing, dropshipping etc.
