Ekiti State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice John Adeyeye has officially launched E- affidavit, E-Probate and E-filing portals.
Welcoming guests at the event, Justice Adeyeye represented by Justice Lekan Ogunmoye said, courtesy of the internet, the world is now a global village, with the reality on ground, the world had almost complete its migration from the analogue to the digital.
Justice Adeyeye said, one of the processes in the emerging world is E-filing process which is a means of filing suit electronically over the internet through the judiciary information system, adding that, for a start, E-filing of processes would reduce human interactions with its attendant reduction in the proclivity and receipt for gratification, the process would therefore not only encourage transparency in the judiciary but would also assist greatly in eliminating quackery and improve the states’s justice system.
Justice Adeyeye said, Ekiti State Court Management System would include e-affidavit, e-probate, e-filling of cases,online payments as well as virtual and remote hearing of cases by logging on to www.ekitijudiciary.ek.gov.ng, adding that digitalization process which is expected to be in phases, with the first phase taking off today being the e-affidavit, when fully deployed is expected to inter-alia improve revenue generation, ensure swift justice delivery, ensure complete automation of all court processes, improve operational efficiency, create a comprehensive database of all affidavits within the courts and authentic/reliable form of evidence in our courts among others.
He said, the e-affidvit would still co-exist with the manual affidavit until a seamless transition from the manual to digital is fully achieved.
Declaring the official launching of Ekiti State Judiciary Court Management Information System, Justice Adeyeye appreciates memebers of the committee in charge, for ensuring the eventual take-off of the project.
Ekiti State, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Mr. Dayo Apata (SAN) applauded the Chief Judge and his team for their efforts towards actualizing the digitalization of Ekiti State Judiciary which he described as long overdue.
In his remark, Dr. Michael Afolayan on behalf of the Nigerian Bar Association lauded the symbiotic relationship between the Chief Judge and members of the Nigerian Bar Association, he described the event as worthwhile, he pleaded with the Chief Judge to organize a forum where Lawyers and other stakeholders would be adequately inducted on the new development.
Other dignitaries at the ocassion include, High Court Judges, Magistrates, lawyers, top management staff of Ekiti State Judiciary and representatives of the project consultant among others.
