INEC LAUD NYSC EKITI ON CONTRIBUTION TO DEMOCRACY

…. acknowledges the role of youth in election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has applauded the collaboration and contribution of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with INEC towards successful conduct of elections and electoral processes in the country.

The newly appointed State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Ekiti State, Dr. Bunmi Omosehindemi stated this while on a courtesy visit to the NYSC Ekiti State Coordinator; Alhaji Riko Abdullahi Shuaibu, at the NYSC State Secretariat; Basiri Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday.

Dr. Omosehindemi in his address acknowledged the role of Nigerian youths in electoral processes, while positing that INEC and NYSC will continue to collaborate for the sustenance of democracy in the country.

He also lauded the effort of corps members on election duty during the 2023 general elections, stating that the pivotal role of the scheme through the corps members cannot be overemphasized.

He however reinstated the Commission’s commitment to sustaining the partnership and memorandum of understanding that exists between the two institution.

The NYSC Ekiti State Coordinator – Alhaji Riko Abdullahi Shuaibu while reacting appreciated the new REC and his management team for the visit, noting that the NYSC is a youth organization that assists in changing the mindset of Nigerian youth towards achieving a sustainable, peaceful and serene society. 

Alhaji Riko added that the collaboration between the two institutions is paramount and the government must make necessary steps towards improving the synergy.  

He however stated that his leadership in the State will continue to operate an open-door policy which will give room for collaborators such like INEC to bring a better society.

Present at the courtesy call were members of management Team of INEC Ekiti State and NYSC Ekiti State.
