Betta Edu: FG Committed To Transparency, Accountability – Mohammed Idris

Following the controversy surrounding the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, the Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability.

In a statement signed by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, noting President Tinubu’s directive for a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the alleged payment of funds into a private account by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

It reads in part, “We acknowledge the concerns raised by the public regarding the alleged payment of funds into a private account by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. We are aware of the narratives circulating widely and wish to assure Nigerians that the Government takes these issues most seriously,” stated Minister Idris.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to transparency, the Minister emphasized President Tinubu’s determination to unravel the truth in the matter.

He assured the public that appropriate action would be taken to identify and decisively punish any breaches and infractions, aligning with the Administration’s commitment to public accountability and due process.

Minister Idris urged the public to rely on the Ministry of Information and National Orientation as the primary source for verified information about government events. He emphasized that only accurate details would be shared with the public and committed to providing timely updates on the progress of the investigation.

“We urge Nigerians to exercise patience as the investigation unfolds. The government is focused on ensuring a fair and unbiased process, and the findings will be communicated duly and transparently to the public,” he said.
