…says appointees to propel inclusive agenda

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji has inaugurated 177 persons to serve as Party Focal Persons on Community Communications in the State.

The inauguration took place at the Conference Hall, Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti, included focal persons nominated from 177 wards in the State.

Speaking at the exercise, the Governor who was represented by the Director General, DG, Bureau of Community Communications, Mary Osho-Omotosho said that, the aim was to propagate the all-inclusive government which the BAO administration represents.

She said:”This is really party affairs and we are here this morning because you have some roles to play about the community communications as party men and women in our various wards. The office of community communications was created to bridge communication gap between government and the people.

She however, advised the appointees to see their appointment as a clarion call to serve.

She said, ” Coming from the party, the Governor being a core party man and a core grassroots man feels that we need to up our game in communication within our party members. He feels like there is still a gap within the party which must be filled to enhance better relationship and communication.

“Though the Governor himself is very close to the people, he feels that when it comes to party matters we still need more as far as communication and feedback is concerned, that is why from the office of community communications we have called on you to work with us to relate with the office on party affairs and party matters and the office will constantly work with the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters and Inter-party Affairs, High Chief Jide Awe.

“Also to coordinate party-related activities and initiatives within the wards from my office, we go out for community activities a lot and we don’t want our party members to be left out in the activities that we would be embarking on, that is why we have called you to work with the existing structure to help us as Government to bridge the communication gap and also to report on grassroots political issues, concerns and feedbacks from the community for prompt actions.

“We need to balance our report and have unbiased reports so that we can form our judgments. So, we need you to relate with people to gather feedback and put the concerns of party members together. This is not an opportunity for us to bully others or to look down on our leaders but to do everything the way it should be done.”

Also speaking at the programme the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters and Inter-party Affairs, High Chief Jide Awe, noted that the appointment aims to build an institution that the next generation would be proud of, thus, tasked nominees on the need to relay party issues without taunting the image of the party with bias and unrealistic information.

He said, ” Human Management is very important and one of the keys is communication. We want to build an institution that generations yet to be born would be proud of. It is your duty to tell your boss about every lapse if you are supposed to be holding a meeting in a place and you are holding it in two different places.

“Where there is division there’s no progress. We didn’t say you should lie against your party but to report evidential and factual lapses. Work as a team and do your jobs without fighting with your wards executives.”
