The management of the Ekiti State Ultra Modern Market, Ajilosun Ado Ekiti popularly known as Fayose Market has described as untrue the allegation that some persons in the market are into drug abuse and other crimes.
A caller on a popular radio programme had alleged that the various toilets in the market have been converted to hide out for smokers of India hemp who often unleash terror on unsuspecting visitors to the market.
However in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, President of all the traders in the market, Mr. Owa Babatunde affirmed that the caller was economical with the truth and was only trying to paint an imaginary picture.
According to Owa Babatunde the leadership of the market have laid down some rules and regulations among which is the ban on India hemp smoking and the law was well implemented.
Owa Babatunde noted that there is an appointed staff in charge of toilets and one of their mandates is to guide against its abuse for any reason.
He said the allegation by the caller on the programme anchored by one Omo Edema was a figment of his imagination and such must be disregarded.
Owa Babatunde noted that the market authorities have a symbiotic relationship with security agents who have been assisting to ensure orderliness among every occupants.
He said: ” Our toilets are meant for convenience and nothing more, if anybody has a fact about untoward use of the toilets let the person reach out to us.
We don’t condone indiscipline and unlawful activities in the market, we have set of rules guiding our operations and our people have been complying.
