Ekiti Gov. Charges Corps Members to Pioneer Positive Change.

The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has charged corps members deployed to the state to be agents of positive change in their places of primary assignment.

Governor Oyebanji gave the charge during the official closing ceremony of the orientation course for the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream one Corps members deployed to the State at the Ise/ Emure/Orun Ekiti orientation Camp.

He urged the corps members to support the government in the execution of various programmes geared towards improving the lives of people of the state, particularly those of their host communities during the service year.

The Governor who was represented by the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Gold Adedayo, appealed to the Corps members to make hard work, discipline and service for national development their watchwords.

He also charged the corps members to brace up and rise to the challenges ahead with the mindset of sacrifice, dedication, persistence and humility, adding that they should adapt to the new environment they have been deployed for their Primary Assignment and build a solid foundation for a year of impactful Service.

Oyebanji admonished the corps members to remove prejudice, eliminate ignorance and confirm first-hand the similarities that bind Nigeria as a nation, saying that Corps members should not toil with the social change in a heterogeneous society, “Youths have great potentials to significantly influence their communities positively within a very short period which in turns will place the nation back on the track of greatness.” He added.

He assured them of their safety in the State. However, he cautioned them against embarking on unnecessary night journeys and inimical acts, urging them to settle down and integrate swiftly into the communities where they have been posted for their primary assignment.

Earlier in his address, the Ekiti State NYSC Coordinator, Alhaji Riko Abdullahi Shaibu, urged the Corps members posted to the State to always promote the unity and integration of Nigeria through their utterances and actions.

He acknowledged Governor Oyebanji’s support for the Corps in the State, adding that Corps members should realise that the successful completion of the orientation course signifies the beginning of a new phase in their lives, hence he urged them to shun unauthorised journeys and association with fellows of questionable characters.
