The 2023 Presidential candidate of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar’s Media Aide, Demola Olarewaju, has said the 2014 national conference makes the then President Good Luck Jonathan the best President in the country.
He said this on his X handle @DemolaRewaju while responding to @Kolacraig, who said “Just because Buhari’s administration was terrible doesn’t exonerate GEJ’s misadventure called governance.”
In response, he said, “If for nothing, you should have understood that even Jonathan came to the conclusion that the only way to fix Nigeria was to unbundle Nigeria from Abuja, hence the 2014 Confab, and for that reason alone: GEJ over anybody.
“I understand that some of you were seduced by the idea that things could be much better, but you ignored that processes were getting better and systems were being improved.
“Okay, so the proper response to this is that you should pay attention to systems and processes in nation-building, not just results, which even in this case were there.
“But his commitment to the principle of democracy – free and fair elections, the guarantee of rights and freedoms…those should have convinced you to support him, and in eight years, we would have had elected officers respecting and being responsive to the voter.
“It’s old news anyway, and I’m not married to Jonathan – we’ve seen certain outcomes and if you need to see more before you believe, may you see it.” He added.
