Meanwhile, the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Olayinka Isaac Fasuyi, has called on indigenes of Ijesaland in diaspora to do more for the ancient town.
Asiwaju Fasuyi, made the appeal while addressing members of the Egbe Omo Obokun Ijesaland, Houston chapter at their election/monthly meeting and October birthday celebration.
Egbe Omo Obokun of Ijesaland is the umbrella organization for indigenes of Ijesaland residing in the City of Houston, Texas. The idea for the association is to help and support every son and daughter of Ijesaland in Diaspora.
While acknowledging Houston chapter of the Egbe Omo Obokun Ijesaland contribution to the newly built palace of the Owa of Ijesaland and the geriatric medical center, Fasuyi, described the chapter as a source of inspiration for other chapters around the world.
He decried the free fall of the Naira as well as the country’s high debt profile but called on Ijesaland indigenes to support the building and transformation of Ijesaland.
He solicited support for the medical needs in Ijesaland.
The Ijesaland elder stateman also commiserated with the chapter on the demise of its immediate past president, Prince Olumide Arimoro who died recently.
The event of day had Mrs. Helen Wuraola Abiodun, re-election as President of Association for another two years.
Other elected members of executive council of the Association include Gbenga Ekundare as Vice President, David Adebayo as General Secretary, Busuyi Johnson as Assistant General Secretary, Johnson Ogedengbe as Treasurer, Yomi Thomas as Financial Secretary, Oluwakayode Adelowokan as the Public Relations Officer in-charge of media and publicity, and Olusola Otunaike as the Public Relations Officer for General Duties.
The lineup further features Adeniran Adeoye as Social Secretary, Yemisi Awofolaju as Assistant Social Secretary, Babatunde Peters as Welfare Secretary, Bolaji Allen as Assistant Welfare Secretary, and Oluwaseun Alaba as the Chief Whip of the Association.
Helen Wuraola Abiodun, the 8th President, Egbe Omo Obokun of Ijesaland, Houston Chapter in her response expressed the commitment of the chapter to giving back to Ijesaland, as a way of lifting others up.
