…COMMENDS OYEBANJI’S ACHIEVEMENTS IN ONE YEAR
The National President Federation of Ekiti State Students Union FESSU, Mr Abel Ajibade has clarified the issue making rounds that the union suspended and shifted its congress from the state to Kwara state for reasons bordering on the insecurity of Ekiti state.
The Student Union President said that the misunderstanding, misinterpretation and miscommunication was the simple and complex works of some unscrupulous and mischief makers, troublemakers, war mongers and daylight marauders who have since being looking for ways of bringing the government and the leadership students’ body in the state at a loggerhead, after several failed attempts to use the students body against the government.
In a statement personally signed and made available to the press, the FESSU president, explained that the union had many reason to applaud the current administration for the various giants stride in the education sector, particularly the recent increment of Bursary from ten thousand Naira to twenty thousand Naira, and scholarship from sixty thousand Naira to eighty thousand Naira, with disbursements scheduled for November.
According to him, the recruitment of teachers into primary and secondary schools in the state as well as the provision of free buses for secondary, the compensations to outstanding teachers in the state, the constitution of vibrant governing councils for tertiary institutions among other initiative from the thinking head and rational mind of the Governor are not just things that goes unnoticed to the sane minds in the society.
Ajibade who said that Governor Biodun Oyebanji had through the various delegated offices rendered direct and indirect supports to the students’ body said they had no reason to embark on any confrontation with the government as it is being rumored by some people.
According to the statement “even if we have reason to agitate, Governor Oyebanji is our father and a father to all, we know the offices to go, much more that the governor had even always be giving us free access. We recently had a te-a-te with His Excellency at the Youth let’s talk with BAO, and we hold dear to our hearts his promises and friendly disposition.
It would be recalled that In August this year, we met the Listening Governor at Ikogosi warm spring resort around where the Governor addressed us after we followed him tour some facilities, even though it was not an official arrangement, the Governor paid a rapt attention to the student population and we were he handed us over to Mr Akin Oyebode who before then had been a great source of inspirations and support to the youth and students constituency.
Our position was misread, the context of the notification letter was misconstrued, and mistaken and that was not in the terms we meant in the content of the letter. By God’s grace, FESSU has consistently upheld the belief that Ekiti State remains a bastion of peace and tranquility and as a matter of fact, our initial intention to hold the congress in Kwara state was motivated by the desire to extend inclusivity to other regions. There were never any security concerns as misconstrued and escalated by the hungry political dogs that are yet not tired of eating dried boned of their own puppy and which continued to generate reactions from different quarters.
We want to state that this handiwork of the unfortunate beings should be disregarded and treated and an issue fit only for the dustbin
We can’t but commend the administration of Governor Oyebanji who within a year had mapped out strategies to ensuring safety of lives and property across the state and this is evident in the reduction in the rate of kidnapping in some areas different from what we use to have in the past.
Why would anyone say Ekiti is not peaceful enough? We were all alive when the Governor purchased two armored vehicles and patrol vehicles to empower the police and other security outfits in the state, we are also well aware of the restructuring and the strengthening of the Amotekun corps currently ongoing by the administration.
We never intended to tarnish or bring down the effort of government in the security sector, No and Capital No. and we know that this is not unconnected with some evil individuals whom for their own selfish reasons want to tarnish the image of the government through us.
Yes, we have some demands and agitations but those things do not blind our eyes and minds to the changes we have witnessed in Ekiti state within the last one year.
We wish to emphasize that the association has six constitutionally recognized zones under its auspices, and all students from these regions will be given the opportunity to enjoy the benefits and dividends of our union.
We vehemently urge anyone attempting to disrupt the positive relationship between the union and the Government to desist from such actions and if they persist, we hesitate to do more proper researches and do a naming for the dogs for the law to put them on hanging.
We call upon the public, students, and the governmental community to remain calm, as we are taking all necessary measures to ensure a successful congress that truly reflects the unity and inclusivity of Ekiti students, both at home and in the diaspora.
We appreciate your ongoing cooperation, support, and understanding.
