…calls on Zulum, NASS to investigate recruitment

Youths under the aegis of Borno State Indigenes who applied the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) and Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, recruitment in the 2022/2023 batch have alleged that the exercise experienced manipulation.
The Group’s Spokesperson, Garba Rabiu, disclosed this during a press conference held in the State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) hall, Maiduguri.
Garba noted that about 250 applicants wrote the Civil Defense examination, and 315 attended the Immigration screening from Maiduguri to Bauchi state; non were considered for the employment.

Expressing disappointment in the selection process, Garba said, those shortlisted from the State after the overall exercise are unknown as they were nowhere to be found during the screening exercise.
When asked how the group made the discovery, the Spokesperson said, all their members that went for the examination had been in contact on their social media platform, and till the point of shortlisting, non of its members have claimed to be selected
In his words, “Despite our unwavering commitment and dedication, not a single one of us out of (NSCDC 140/NIS 151) from Borno state was shortlisted for final documentation.”
The Group, therefore accused the NSCDC and the NIS of failing to maintain inclusion and adherence to the Federal character, which gives equal rights to both the rich and the poor.
He said, “The poor Youths of Borno have no godfather to secure our rightful positions within these esteemed organisations. Instead, we are left disappointed and
marginalised, our dreams shattered, our hope was replaced with despair, and our optimism crushed by the weight of this injustice. We cannot help but wonder what more could we have done. What more did they want from us?”
The group appealed to the State Governor, Prof. BabaGana Umara Zulum and the National House of Assembly to come to their aid in demanding justice and digging to ascertain the root cause of the alleged injustice.
