Ekiti Guber Poll: EFA congratulates BAO — Urges him to be magnanimous in victory

A leading Ekiti-based, nonpartisan and nongovernmental organisation, Ekiti Future Agenda (EFA) has congratulated the newly elected Ekiti State governor, Mr. Abiodun Oyebanji on his election victory.
This is even as the group, which described the victory as well-deserved, however urged the former Secretary to the State Government, SSG, to be magnanimous in victory.
The congratulatory message and words of exhortation were contained in a statement signed and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Sunday by the group’s convener, Mr. Adesina Adetola.
Ekiti future agenda is nonpartisan and nongovernmental cross-generational organisation that is committed to the ideal of enthronement of good governance and the mobilisation of youth across the state to leverage on their God-given potential to create a future they can all be proud of.
Mr. Adetola said that now that the election was over, the newly elected governor should leverage on the intervening period before his eventual assumption of office in October to have another look at his strategic plan of action with a view to bringing it to practical reality.
He said,” Yours is a long walk to victory and it is well-deserved. The Ekiti people who have overwhelmingly voted for you, did so because of your track record in your previous engagements in the state and in the belief that you possess the intellectual capacity, the soundness of mind and the requisite exposure to deliver on this onerous task of turning the state from her agrarian state to an industrial one. The least you can do is to justify the confidence repose in you.
“Since government is a continuum, we urge you to make your government truly a government of continuity so that you can build on the legacy projects of the current administration.
“We also urge you to see your victory in the light of football game in which, after a fierce competition, members of the winning team would embrace members of the losing team and sometimes exchange jerseys. In the spirit of this sportsmanship, therefore, we urge you to extend hands of fellowship to other contestants so that, together, we can build a state that we will all be proud of, and a state that can hold her own among the comity of states.”
Adetola stated that the task of governing the state has been made easier by the avalanche of professionals across all sectors, charging him to deep his hand in the pool with a view of assembling them to deliver on his policies and programmes.
