Oyebanji, Strong Promoter of Religious, Gender Equality – Ekiti Deputy Governor

The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, has assured the populace that the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji won’t promote one religion over another, saying all shall be treated equally and with respect.

To this end, Mrs Afuye posited that Governor Oyebanji perceived Muslims as reliable partners in the running of his administration that will neither be neglected nor subdued in the scheme of things.

In similar fashion, Mrs Afuye reiterated the desire of his principal to elevate more women through appointments into central positions in government, was to to foster trust and gender equality in the system.

The Deputy Governor said this on Friday at the 4th Biennial woman conference organised by Nasr-Lahi-Il- Fathi Society in Ikere Ekiti, Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Speaking against the backdrop of the genuine intention of his boss to promote religious harmony in Ekiti, Mrs Afuye, represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Victor Adeniyi, said Governor Oyebanji’s appointment by every standard reflected religious sensitivity.

Mrs Afuye stated that her principal ensured fairness in all his dealings by appointing Muslims, who have competences and characters into strategic positions in government.

She described the governor as a religiously tolerant individuals who wouldn’t lord any religion over another, saying instilling of religious harmony remained a priority of the current administration because no nation can develop under the burden of religious upheavals.

The Deputy Governor appealed to Muslims to continually perceive themselves as staunch allies in the driving of the development vision under Governor Oyebanji-led administration.

“Let me appreciate the role and partnership of Muslims in driving the development plan of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s government. The Governor is particularly elated about the peaceful coexistence among the adherents of Christians and Muslims in this state.

“The fact that the two religions have remained peaceful and cooperative had helped in stabilising the government and fasttrack development that is currently being enjoyed by our people.

“Governor Oyebanji is somone who believes that every Ekiti man can practice the religion of his choice without molestation. By actions and deeds, Mr Governor had demonstrated religious sensitivity by not recognising any religion more than the other.

“We appreciate your contributions and let me give a clear assurance that you will be seen as partners in progress and reliable allies in the driving of the vision of the current government”.

The Deputy Governor emphasized that more women will be appointed into positions to prove that Governor Oyebanji is gender sensitive in the state.

“Currently, there are six women lawmakers in the House of Assembly, many as Special Advisers and Commissioners. Many will still be considered for positions as chairpersons and members of boards, parastatals when Mr Governor is making more appointments to drive his vision”.
