Corps Members Donates Relief Materials, Free Medical Service to Ekiti Residents

By Christopher Deborah

Corps members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, serving in Ekiti State under the auspices of the Nigeria Christian Corpers’ Fellowship, NCCF, on Saturday donated relief materials and offered free medical service to Ekiti State residents.

The body of Christian corps members embarked on a two-day Rural Rugged Evangelism with the theme “The Manifestation of God” at Irasa Community in Ado-Ekiti.

According to the President, NCCF, Ekiti State Chapter, Masade Ehikioya Joseph, the donation was aimed at replicating the teachings of Jesus Christ by assisting the vulnerable and indigent people.

He noted that the corps members engaged in other humanitarian aid through environmental sanitation, helping farmers in their farms and other needs.

His words: “We came to the understanding that the struggle of life is real, from how people turned up for the sharing. Indeed, people need help but thank God we were used by God to be of help.

“You could see the joy of the little girls when one of the Jesus Rugged Corpers came in with their equipment to make their hairs and they did excellent and beautiful works on them.

“We shared clothes, white tennis shoes, buckets, biscuits and sweets to the children and also some basic kitchen condiments.

“The medical team did great by attending to the elderly with care and love. Pregnant women and even sick children were attended to. Drugs were given to them, medical advice and even the advanced team (Bible study team and Prayer team) assisted the medical team with counselling.

“Jesus Rugged Corpers went around the community for environmental clean up, helping them to wash their clothes, sweeping their houses among others.”

Similarly, Brothers Coordinator of NCCF, Ejeh Victor Chijioke said that Rural Rugged is a mission work aimed to reach out to the lost souls by bringing all men to the knowledge of Christ and his resurrection.

“We helped because it’s in our nature and that is what Christianity is all about. Helping the less privileged and preaching the word of God to the community, villages, towns who are yet to know Jesus.

“The Bible recorded that most of the time, Jesus healed the sick and performed miracles. He was moved with compassion knowing that these people would have gotten a better life but they remain in darkness. So as the light which we are, we shine forth to them. In all things that all may come into him and Jesus be glorified.”
