The African Union, AU has again met to deliberate on a sustainable ceasefire in the Sudan Conflict and deliberate on the implementation of the road map for the resolution of the conflict.
This was revealed in a statement published on the Twitter handle of the
African Union Political Affairs Peace and Security, @AUC_PAPS.
The meeting which was held at AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, was among the “Core Group of the Expanded Mechanism on the Sudan Crisis”.
This is not the first time the AU is meeting concerning the Sudan crisis, but this time is to strategise on a “fully inclusive” political process and national dialogue to sustain a ceasefire.
The statement reads: “At AU headquarters, the Core Group of the Expanded Mechanism on the Sudan Crisis met to deliberate on the implementation of the Road map for the Resolution of the Sudan Conflict; to strategise on a fully inclusive political process and national dialogue; to agree on a pathway to work together, to push for a sustainable ceasefire; as well as to ensure complementarity, synergy and coordination for an inclusive Sudanese-owned and led political process.”
The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has resulted in the killings of civilians, and the destruction of infrastructure, leading many countries to evacuate their citizens.
