2024 Physicians’ Week: Engage in Regular Exercise – NMA Ekiti Vice Chairman Tasks Doctors

The Vice Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association Ekiti State Branch and LOC Chairman of the 2024 Physicians’ week, Dr. Adeleye Dorcas has called on Doctor’s in the state to always embark on physical exercise to keep the body in good state.

Dr. Adeleye made this known on Monday during the fitness walk as part of the activities marking the 2024 Physicians’ Week.

Speaking with newsmen, Dr. Adeleye pointed out that the job requirement which warrants Doctors to sit for hours is the key reason Doctors need to recess and exercise themselves same way they encourage their patients.

In her words, “If you consider our work, most of the time we sit a lot to see patients. You can be at a spot attending to 30 or 50 patients.

“We need to take a break, we need to exercise our body just as we Doctors advise patients that they should exercise, we also need to give room for us to exercise our body”.

On his part, the President, Association of Resident Doctor’s Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, Dr. Adeyemi Famous expressed delight about the fitness walk which he said marks the beginning of the physician week for the year.

He also reiterated the Residents Doctors commitment and collaboration towards ensuring good health care delivery in the state.

He said, “It is very important to note that all the doctors in Ekiti State are ready to collaborate with the ministry of health to ensure good health care service delivery to all the members of the public in Ekiti State.

“In any situation, in any circumstance or maybe in any health facility, we are always available to do our best.”
