The Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has called on international observers not to interfere in the forthcoming 2023 election process or show partisanship.
The INEC Chairman made the call today, while briefing Election Observers ahead of the 2023 Election scheduled to hold on 25th February and 11th March 2023 respectively.
According to the brief obtained from INEC Twitter handler, Prof. Mahmood said that “international observers must be guided by the fact that the election is conducted by the Federal Republic of Nigeria whose sovereignty must be respected.
“INEC has accredited 196 national or domestic groups that are collectively deploying 144,800 observers”. And The Commission accredited 33 international organisations deploying 2,113 observers. In all, 229 groups are deploying 146,913 observers for the #NigeriaDecides2023. This is the largest deployment of domestic and international observers in the history of elections in Nigeria”. The INEC Boss said.
