The National Population Commission has sought the maximum support of critical stakeholders in Ekiti State towards the success of the proposed 2023 census.
NPC Federal Commissioner in Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi made the plea during the Stakeholders Summit held at Conference Hall, Governor’s Office, Ado Ekiti.
Mr Ajayi explained that the importance of census to National development could not be quantified hence he urged traditional rulers, clerics, media, women and youth groups to mobilize their followers to participate in the programme.
He however warned against any attempt to manipulate the exercise, saying it is ICT driven with a promise that the programme would be credible.
In a remark, Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi gave his commitment to the success of the programme and urged other stakeholders to do same.
The governor, represented by the Deputy, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi affirmed that the irregular census had affected government in its planning and distribution of resources.
In their goodwill messages, representatives of National Orientation Agency, traditional rulers, National Council of Women Societies, National Youth Council and the Nigeria Union of Journalists promised to support National Population Commission to achieve success during the programme.
