16 lives have been claimed in a fatal traffic accident which occurred on the Ondo-Ore Motorway at Ajure community in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, leaving three others injured.
The crash was said to have involved an 18-passenger Toyota Hiace bus and a truck.
It was reported that the two vehicles collided head on, causing the bus to catch fire and burn 16 of its passengers.
The Ondo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Ibitoye Samuel, verified the event on Wednesday.
Samuel stated that the accident was caused by overspeeding and wrongful overtaking by the vehicles involved.
He stated that the rescue operation ended around 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
