Former Lagos State Commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso has alleged that, the 103 victims of the October 10th, 2020 EndSARS protest are not from Lekki Toll Gate, adding that claims were incited by the opposers of the ruling Party.
The Former Commissioner made this known during an interactive session with newsmen in Arise News, today
According to him, the EndSARS Protest in Lekki Toll Gate was one of the most peaceful protests in Lagos State, revealing that, the Governor of Lagos State, Jide Sanwo-Olu and he took part in the protest.
He said, “These guys are getting a decent burials because this is a job that has been given to a company that you can call Julius Berger Funeral in Nigeria. I don’t see why people should now say they want to connect this to Lekki Toll Gate Incident, but I can understand that this is a period of post election politics, people still cannot come to terms with the fact that they have lost election and this is the time for governance.I think what is happening is what I call post election hallucination.
“All these people who are asking the young people to come out because of these things with no concrete and scientific evidence, people are vast in scientific reasoning they are just trying to deceive people, but lagosians are wise having seen what the End SARS Protest that was very peaceful and very organized that even Mr. Governor and myself joined carrying placards until they begin to attack Lagos and begin to destroy many government properties, individual properties and causing confusion all over the place.
” So the bodies I insist, the Government is not lying about anything, they are not from Lekki but from other clashes that occurred during the EndSARS Era. Don’t forget that, days before the Lekki incident, there were clashes in Orile many policemen were killed we still have the videos all around, the Akala Boys were fighting, Fadeyi Boys, bodies were found on streets. In Ikorodu Cultists were fighting for supremacy. They were many clashes and bodies were picked up from these places. I don’t know why people are saying that these bodies were picked from Lekki Toll Gate without any scientific evidence.”
Recall that a Press Statement was issued recently by the Lagos State Government about the purported mass burial plan for the 103 victims of the EndSARS protest, which incited an uproar from the masses due to claims of victims supposedly from Lekki Toll Gate.
Reacting to this, the State Government, yesterday issued another release saying that, the previous publication was misinterpreted, claiming that the bodies were not from the EndSARS Protest and the mass burial is to decongest the morgue in the State.
