Speaking at the 2024 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Lagos, Akpabio emphasized the importance of a united front in addressing the challenges facing Nigeria. According to him, the return to the old anthem is symbolic of the government’s commitment to creating a more inclusive and cohesive society.
“We are diligently working to establish a robust legal framework that will uphold the aspirations of all Nigerians,” Akpabio said. “We believe strongly that there is no stain in our country that cannot be erased if we stand together in brotherhood.”
He further elaborated on the significance of the old national anthem, noting that its lyrics encapsulate the essence of unity despite Nigeria’s diversity. “We went back to that national anthem, that though tribes and tongues may di f fer, though professions may di f fer, in brotherhood we stand. We want to rebuild the future of this country, acknowledging that while we may come from di f ferent backgrounds, in brotherhood we stand,” Akpabio af firmed.
